Kanye Given Free Reign to Do Whatever He Wants at MTV VMAs 2016

MTV’s 2016 Video Music Awards take place on Sunday, August 28 at 9 p.m. Eastern, broadcasting live from Madison Square Garden in New York City. It has now be revealed that, at the show, Kanye West will be given four minutes to do whatever he wants on stage, TMZ reports. A source from the show has confirmed this to Pitchfork. West will join the already announced performers at the show: Video Vanguard recipient Rihanna, Future, Britney Spears with G-Eazy, and Nick Jonas with Ty Dolla $ign.

Beyoncé led this year’s nominations, scoring 11 for videos from Lemonade. Adele earned eight, including seven for her “Hello” video. Adele and Beyoncé are both up for Video of the Year, along with Drake’s “Hotline Bling,” Justin Bieber’s “Sorry,” and Kanye West’s controversial “Famous.” Rihanna, Chance the Rapper, David Bowie, FKA twigs, Tame Impala, Florence and the Machine, the Weeknd, and more are also up for VMAs.

The pre-show will be hosted by DJ Khaled, and it will feature performances from Alessia Cara and Jidenna.
