Twin Shadow Share "To the Top"

Twin Shadow Share "To the Top"

Twin Shadow have shared new song "To The Top". The song was recorded in Los Angeles at Hollywood Forever Cemetery & Studio Zapata Zabala with Wynne Bennet. A press release states that Twin Shadow's also in the studio working on the follow-up to 2012's excellent Confess .

Twin Shadow also shared a statement about the song:

What is it when you realize that someone isn't right for you? Or when you find that you do not and can not posses someone entirely? You want someone so bad and it feels like hell.

It's not like the first time, once loved love evolves, and you no longer have as much control, and it frustrates you. I think because of this feeling we find ourselves constantly wanting to reset, like new years resolutions, like dreaming up moments from the past where the ending flips on its head, like true forgiveness...We just want to say "wait wait wait, this went too far in the wrong direction, can we try that again."

Janelle Monáe has taken to the studio to record a cover of David Bowie's "Heroes" for Pepsi's 2014 "Now Is What You Make It" ad campaign. Listen to the cover above.

When asked about Bowie's influence, Monáe was direct in her praise of the icon, claiming (via RollingStone ):

"Bowie is part of my musical DNA in so many ways," Monae says. "And 'Heroes’ is one of my favorite Bowie songs. When you love your favorite song, you want to keep some of the beautiful qualities of the original, but we brought Atlanta in the drums and wanted them to be thick and hit hard. [The cover] is like us reimagining it. I thought, ‘If this song was in my dream, how would it get from our dream to my reality?’"

Monáe also recently covered Robert Palmer's "Simply Irresistible" alongside Charli XCX. Listen to that cover here.
