Coldplay have shared a few tracks from A Head Full of Dreams, which is out December 4, and recently previewed each song from the album. Today, they shared "Hymn for the Weekend", which is the track that features Beyoncé. It debuted on Annie Mac's BBC Radio 1 show—listen to the song and an interview with Coldplay's Guy Berryman below.
EL VY—the collaborative project of the National's Matt Berninger and Menomena/Ramona Falls' Brent Knopf—released their album Return to the Moon this past October, and they're on the road now. Today, Beringer sat down for a Facebook Q&A from his hotel in Copenhagen. He gave an update on the National's next album. While he said that they plan to play new songs live, the album isn't coming in 2016.
The band recently offered an update on the new album, with Berninger calling 15 of their new songs "fucking amazing".
Elsewhere in the Q&A, Beringer revealed that the National will never perform the Sad Songs for Dirty Lovers track "Cardinal Song" in full ("it's too depressing"). Also, the National did indeed record a new "Bob's Burgers" song, but it was pulled due to the tragic events in Paris. "It was a goofy song about Thanksgiving and how Europe doesn't have Thanksgiving," he said. "Maybe it'll come out next year, it's really funny."
He also discussed his favorite lyricists (Spoon's Britt Daniel, Kim Deal, and Nick Cave, to name a few), meeting Chvrches' Lauren Mayberry, whether his wife actually "drove into the vines", and much more.

ANOHNI has performed "4 Degrees" at recent performances and discussed the song in a recent interview. "I have grown tired of grieving for humanity, and I also thought I was not being entirely honest by pretending that I am not a part of the problem," she said. "'4 Degrees' is kind of a brutal attempt to hold myself accountable, not just valorize my intentions but also reflect on the true impact of my behaviors."

On November 26, Talib Kweli performed at Pumpehuset in Copenhagen, Denmark. While in Copenhagen, he claims he was the victim of a racially-motivated attack, as he wrote in an Instagram post (via Pigeons and Planes).
"I was attacked by two bigots last night saying they "hate me" and they didn't even know who I was, they just didn't like the color of my skin," he wrote. "It wasn't an Internet attack, it was physical. I was hit and kicked."
Kweli says that he escaped the situation and went on to perform his show as scheduled. "It goes to show you that racism and hate doesn't stop for ppl with money or 'celebrity' whatever that means," he wrote.

Over the past few months, Marvel Comics have been paying homage to hip-hop through a series of variant covers inspired by beloved albums from Run the Jewels, Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg, Lauryn Hill, De La Soul, DOOM, Wu-Tang Clan, A Tribe Called Quest, Tyler the Creator, Jay Z, Missy Elliott, 2Pac, Eminem, and many, many more.
Today, the company has announced a free, 32-page book featuring reprints of 14 of these covers, the New York Times reports. “The hip-hop variants were a really special initiative that caught fire in the outside world,” Marvel editor-in-chief Axel Alonso told the Times. “We thought this was a great opportunity to highlight that and make it available to fans for free.” The comic will be available in participating stores January 6.

There’s a moment in my conversation with Sonny Moore, aka Skrillex, when the line goes silent and I can’t tell whether he’s mulling his point or telling me to move on. (Moore is a voluble speaker, and there have been several times when I’ll think he’s finished his answer, only to hear a stream of words pour forth the moment I open my mouth.) Then, he talks: “You still there?” A second before, he’d described a music video he was very excited about, but couldn’t remember the title of. Now, he’s Googling for it, but he wants me to keep talking.
In other words: Sonny Moore is multi-tasking, which is no surprise given his antic work as Skrillex. Today, Moore has released a grand, theatrical music video for his remix of “Red Lips”, a track by Miami duo GTA. Last week, we chatted with him about the clip, which was directed by Grant Singer and co-written by Skrillex and Singer. It was made in collaboration with Apple Music.
(Before we hung up, he remembered the video he was thinking about: “Acid Rain” by Lorn.)
Pitchfork: I wanted to hear it straight from your mouth: What exactly is going on in this video?
Skrillex: I came up with it with Grant. The first thing that went through my head when I heard the song is that it starts out kind of pretty, but still dark. It feels almost schizophrenic. The way Sam Bruno, the vocalist, delivers the song, it feels like she’s afraid of something. The idea was, what if this girl was sitting here by herself, and when the key changes in the song, the sky just went black and these creatures come out from behind and it’s this nightmare she’s running from? It’s this girl in your head, and this is what she’s seeing.
Pitchfork: Why did you choose to work with Grant on this project?
Skrillex: To be honest, I’ve worked with a lot of great directors, but I feel Grant is someone that I am able to communicate with. It’s strange—some directors are really talented but they can be so precious when it comes to letting you be a part of it. Grant and I mesh so well on a creative level that we just came up with the concepts together, all the treatment and all the art direction that I brought to him: movies like The Cell and The Neverending Story and old science fiction films. He was just so happy to work side-by-side together, where some other people would rather do their own thing. Obviously he’s never done a bad video and he really has an awesome vision and like I said he just let me be super creative in this process. Same with "Burial", so that’s why I chose him.
Pitchfork: Why did it take six months to make?
Skrillex: A lot of it was just treatment. Fantasy is so hard to do when it comes to making it look good compared to something that’s a documentary or hyper-realism. When you only have a certain amount of money, shit’s gonna look really corny. Going back and forth from the budget, what we had and pulling favors—there’s a lot in that process, and it comes with factoring in your resources.
It didn’t start out as a fantasy at first. It started out a little bit more like The Shining; a woman running from someone through a house. It kept morphing and morphing, and we kept sitting on it. I think that’s what makes it special. We didn’t have a deadline where we had to put it out in a week. Sometimes a song can take up to a year to write, and because I waited that year and waited to work on it that day, it came up that extra 50 percent. We treated it like it was just an art piece that we took our time doing, and it really felt right on the treatment. If we would’ve done it back then we would have settled for what we first had and it wouldn’t have been as spectacular.
Pitchfork: Traditionally, you don’t appear in your videos. Why is that?
Skrillex: When you hear the song, it’s so dramatic. In my head, it needed something as dramatic, and I think I would just distract from that in this case. Whenever I am in my videos, it’s rare. A lot of it is, they feel more live and hyper-realist, like I was saying before, rather than fantasy. People would just be like, “Oh, Skrillex is acting in this video,” and it wouldn’t work as well.
Pitchfork: To me, the track is immediately identifiable as a Skrillex remix. At this point in your career, do you feel the pressure to push yourself in different directions?
Skrillex: It’s cool, because I've been working with Bieber and doing Jack Ü which departs from the roots of Skrillex for a little bit. The one thing that differentiates this, to me, is that a lot of my stuff has a lot of humor in it. My music had a lot, like “Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites”, and stuff that was a little more satirical. But “Red Lips” is more honest and dramatic, and even over-dramatic, rather than having that sort of snottiness that some of my older music came from. If you go back and reference my productions that are, like, these traditional Skrillex sounds, it never had this seriousness before.
Pitchfork: There are some predictions that EDM is on its way out, and yet you’re very optimistic about the future of computer music. How do you reconcile those views?
Skrillex: I totally see that sort of scene declining, because it’s in a bubble. But there are artists that are using computers in all genres—Kendrick Lamar’s music is electronic-made, and Taylor Swift is the same thing. There's a lot of pop music, underground music, and music for films made with computers. In that sense, it’s not going to go away.
But as far as EDM goes—I'm talking about DJs—there's been a wave right now and you can ride on it. But a platform is really arbitrary when it comes to an artist. An artist creates songs and timeless moments that are reflections that impact culture, and you can do that in any way—with guitars, ukelele, a computer. So, that will never die. It’s always the artist behind the computer, not the computer. You just told me yourself you can tell it’s a Skrillex remix, but there is a lot of music out there that you can play side by side and you can’t hear the personality—that has a timeline on it, for sure.
There will still be the big room house EDM songs, big hits—you’ll still have that here and there. But the copying to make a trend, that will always goes in cycles in all kinds of music. If I look at what I play, 99% of the sets that I play on aren’t EDM events. I haven’t played EDC since 2011. Normally, my sound fits a little bit better in mixed festivals.
There's this famous EDM festival called Tomorrowland in Belgium that has gone on for ten years. It's massive, with one hundred thousand people a day, and that's the sound of Belgium. When you go into a normal fucking bar, they're playing big room house, and they love that shit. And I played the main stage, and people don't get my type of music there. You see what I'm saying? It’s also a cultural thing. It goes back to who's pushing music in whatever genre. It always comes back to the individual and the attention in how you can connect with the music, you know?

Massive Attack's 3D, aka Robert Del Naja, has composed the original score to an artwork by filmmaker Darren Aronofsky and French artist JR. Displayed in Paris ahead of today's U.N. Climate Change Conference, "The Standing March" aims to "remind leaders that the world is watching" by projecting images of 500 people's faces onto the French National Assembly Building. The piece ran from 8 p.m. until 4 a.m. yesterday, with the same times scheduled tonight. More Paris locations will follow.
Over the weekend, Thom Yorke – who discussed the Occupy movement with 3D in 2011 – DJed atop a Greenpeace float during a climate march in London. As previously reported, a petition signed by Yorke, David Bowie, and Björk calls on world leaders to reach a deal at the conference.
Blur have shared another clip from New World Towers, the forthcoming documentary about their post-reunion activity. In it, the band perform "This Is a Low" at Hyde Park, as a voiceover reflects on "something tantamount to magic" that occurs when they're onstage. Watch it below.

After years of in-fighting, former New Order bassist Peter Hook is suing ex-bandmates Bernard Sumner, Stephen Morris, and Gillian Gilbert in a royalties dispute, the BBC reports. Hook, who is no longer in the group and now performs with Peter Hook and the Light, has accused the band of "pillaging" New Order's assets when they set up a new company in 2011 to take care of the band's finances, and didn't include him in the company. Hook claims he's lost out on more than £2.3 million ($3.5 million).
Hook's lawyer, Mark Wyeth QC, described the move as "clandestine, premeditated, and deliberate," according to the BBC. However, the trio say they've given Hook a reasonable stake of royalties. (He currently receives 1.25% of New Order's income, but believes he is entitled to 12.5%.)
David Casement QC, representing the other band members, said Hook's complaints were "completely misconceived" and told the court Hook was either intent on "obstructing" the trio's continued success or wanted to "rejoin the band," the BBC reports.
The High Court judge rejected the notion that Hook's "true motive was to get back into the band or spite the defendants" and gave him clearance to proceed to a full trial.
Wyeth said, "It was as though George Harrison and Ringo Starr had got together at George's house one Friday night and had acted together to divest Paul McCartney of his shareholding in the Beatles, and didn't tell Yoko about it either."

DOOM recently re-emerged after a quiet spell, sharing a Ghostface Killah collab as DOOMSTARKS before dropping tracks with PRhyme, A State of Mind, and M.E.D., Blu, and Madlib. Now, to promote a new "Villain Cap" released in collaboration with New Era, he's shared a home video. Shot in St. Lucia, the clip sees a masked DOOM smoking on a luxurious villa balcony, helming a motor sail boat, and taking a dip in a swimming pool. He also alludes, faintly, to new material on the way: "Lot of good shit coming up this year... and any year." Watch it below.

After debuting it at the Baltimore airport last week, Animal Collective have now officially announced their new album, Painting With. The follow-up to 2012's Centipede Hz is out February 19 via Domino. They've also the album's first single, "FloriDada". Check that out below, along with the tracklist and album art.
As reported earlier this year, the album was recorded by Panda Bear, Avey Tare, and Geologist at EastWest Studios in Los Angeles. It features contributions from John Cale, as well as Colin Stetson.
The album will be available in three different covers, each of which features a painting of one of the band members. The paintings were done by Brian DeGraw. The deluxe LP edition comes with a bonus 7" featuring two non-album tracks as well as a "zoetropic turntable slipmat" that "animates when activated in part with a strobe light," according to a press release.

Yorke recently discussed his thoughts on climate change with writer George Monbiot. He'll perform at Pathway to Paris, a concert in conjunction with the conference, on December 5.

Last year, Chief Keef was dropped from Interscope. It's now been reported that his contract with billionaire Alki David's company FilmOn has been suspended. In a statement to VladTV (via Fader), David cited disagreements with Keef's management.
"...His management went off and did a tour without our approval," David said. "Not happy with the direction they are taking him." He argues that his management are "limiting his appeal to a wider audience."
He also was angry over Keef's "Let It Blow" video with D. Flores. Flores was arrested for allegedly kidnapping a 15-year-old girl and forcing her into prostitution.
David added, "I don't blame Keith—I blame his shady management—Keith is a fucking rap superstar."
Keef signed with FilmOn back in May. This year, David and Keef's plans for hologram concerts repeatedly fell apart due to police interference.

Last night, My Morning Jacket performed at the Beacon Theatre in New York City. During their set, they paid homage to Eagles of Death Metal. Fleet Foxes' Robin Pecknold has shared a cover of the Five Keys' "Out of Sight, Out of Mind". He posted it on the Fleet Foxes Facebook page with the note, "Happy holidays - here's a cover." Listen to it above.
Pecknold's cover features Neal Morgan on percussion. The two collaborated earlier this year to compose music for the Off-Broadway play Wyoming.

Earlier this year, it was revealed that Kanye West auditioned for "American Idol" in San Francisco. Now, "Idol" has included his appearance in a commercial for the show's final season. He appears at the end for a few seconds, much to the surprise of judge Jennifer Lopez, who asks, "Is this Kanye West? What are you doing here?" The 30-second spot also includes highlights from the show's history, including William Hung's audition and former judge Simon Cowell being, well, judgmental. Watch it below, via Billboard.
West has a bit of history with "American Idol"—he performed "Heartless" on the show, and in 2011, he joined Katy Perry to perform "E.T.".

In a recent interview, Adele revealed that she wanted to do an official remix of "Hotline Bling". "I love Drake so much," she said. "I even got the coat that's in the video." In an interview following Drake Night at the Raptors game (via Fader), Drake strongly agreed that the two should collaborate.
"I’d do anything with Adele," he said. "I’d literally go to Adele’s house right now and do laundry for her."

Crystal Castles are currently working on a new LP, Ethan Kath's first without former singer Alice Glass, who contentiously left the group last year. Tonight, they played their first live show without Glass at SoundsWild in Johannesburg, South Africa. Tyler, the Creator is now a playable character in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5, the latest edition of the popular video game, IGN reports. In addition to introducing four new levels, the latest update of the game introduces two new character campaigns: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Odd Future's own Tyler, the Creator.

Kendrick Lamar has shared a new track called "Black Friday". It's a freestyle over J. Cole's 2014 Forest Hills Drive track "A Tale of 2 Citiez". In return, J. Cole rapped over Kendrick's To Pimp a Butterfly cut "Alright" (also called "Black Friday"). Listen to both of them above.

Back in June, the Daft Punk documentary, Daft Punk Unchained, aired on the French network Canal+. Now, the film, which was previously available only with subtitles, has gotten a U.S. premiere date. It's scheduled to air on Showtime at Thursday, December 10 at 9 p.m., EST. Watch the trailer for it below.

Erykah Badu's new mixtape, But You Caint Use My Phone, is out now on Apple Music. The follow-up to 2010's New Amerykah Part Two: Return of the Ankh features guest appearances from André 3000 on "Hello". The mixtape doesn't appear on Badu's artist page, but you can hear it by searching "But You Caint Use My Phone" in Apple Music or iTunes.
The title of the mixtape is a reference to Badu's 1997 track "Tyrone". According to a press release, "each song makes reference to telephones and our own reliance on staying inter-connected." Badu recorded the project with producer Zach Witness in Dallas.
At the beginning of October, Badu dropped "HOTLINE BLING BUT U CAINT USE MY PHONE MIX", a remix of Drake's "Hotline Bling". It appears on But You Caint Use My Phone under its new title, "Cel U Lar Device". The mixtape also features the previously-shared "Phone Down".
CORRECTION: An earlier version of this story stated that the mixtape featured an appearance by Drake on the song "U Use to Call Me". Badu's team has confirmed that it's actually rapper ItsRoutine on the track.
Sia has shared "One Million Bullets", the latest track from her forthcoming album This Is Acting. It follows lead single "Alive". That's the song's artwork above, and you can hear it below.
This is Acting is out January 29.
On January 22, Santigold will release her new album 99¢, the follow-up to 2012's Master of My Make-Believe. Now, she's shared a video for its track "Who Be Lovin’ Me", produced by Zeds Dead and featuring iLoveMakonnen. The video, directed by Santigold and her husband, Trouble Andrew, sees Santigold and Makonnen cruising around Philadelphia’s Made in America festival in a buggy. Look out for cameos from Earl Sweatshirt, A-Trak, Big Sean, De La Soul, Meek Mill, Vic Mensa, and more.
Speaking about the track in the press release, Zeds Dead said, "We met Makonnen on the Mad Decent Boat Party last year and knew he could kill this beat. He hit us up and said he and Santigold both were jumping on it. We're big fans of hers, so when he brought that back to us it was a no-brainer. The record just came together really naturally and the final cut is something we're all really happy with."
