Watch Rostam’s New “Gwan” Video

Earlier this year, Rostam announced he had new solo music on the way that he would perform on his upcoming tour. The former Vampire Weekend member is now readying his solo debut, which is set to come out this year, according to a press release. Today, he’s shared the music video for “Gwan,” a track that he premiered on KCRW last year. In the slow motion clip, directed by Greg Brunkalla, Rostam walks around New York City. “I’ve had experiences where my life will try to tell me something in a dream—and sometimes it’s something I’m not ready to hear,” Rostam said about the song in a press release. “So I think maybe this song is about trying to listen to what your subconscious mind is trying to say to you.” Watch the “Gwan” video below.

“Gwan” follows Rostam’s solo songs “Wood,” “Don’t Let It Get to You,” “Gravity Don’t Pull Me,” and “EOS.” Last year, he and Hamilton Leithauser released their excellent album I Had a Dream That You Were Mine. Also in 2016, he composed the music for “The OA,” the Netflix series that his brother Zal co-wrote. Recently, he collaborated with RAC on a track called “This Song.”
