Composer, artist, and filmmaker Tony Conrad died last year. This year, Superior Viaduct will share a previously unreleased Conrad performance from 1972. Ten Years Alive on the Infinite Plain is out May 19 in North America and May 21 in Europe. Conrad’s performance was recorded at the Kitchen in New York with Rhys Chatham and Laurie Spiegel. The album comes with liner notes from Chatham. “When I first listened to this recording after not hearing it for over 40 years, it transported me back to the early Kitchen and the heyday of early minimalism, played outside the Dream Syndicate,” he writes. The album was edited by Jim O’Rourke. Listen to a six-minute excerpt below.
