Lydia Lunch is the subject of a new documentary called Lydia Lunch: The War is Never Over. The film, directed by Beth B, chronicles Lunch’s entire career. It’s set to feature interviews, live performances, and much more. Watch the trailer and find a conversation between Lunch and Nicolas Jaar below. The documentary is seeking backers on Kickstarter. Rewards include the film itself, rare records, posters, dinner with Lunch and Beth B, associate producer credits, tickets to the film’s premiere, and much more. The funds are being raised to film Lunch on tour and interview people including Thurston Moore, Weasel Walter, and JG Thirlwell.
Lunch has posted her support for the project along with a call for donations. “It’s urgent in these extremely divisive times that we can showcase a diverse community of talented visionaries who I have been fortunate enough to collaborate with,” she wrote. “This film hopes to illustrate the voices of stubbornly independent artists who have not and will not give up or shut up. Thank you all. Every bit helps!!!”
Some of Lunch’s music has been reissued in recent years. Jaar’s imprint Other People released her 1990 album Conspiracy of Women and some of Teenage Jesus and the Jerks’ early recordings.
