Sun Kil Moon and Jesu are releasing their new album 30 Seconds to the Decline of Planet Earth on June 2 via Caldo Verde. The album features Mark Kozelek and Justin Broadrick’s previously released tracks “He’s Bad” (the one where Kozelek declares that he’s “glad” that Michael Jackson died) and “The Greatest Conversation Ever in the History of the Universe” (which is the anti-Trump song where Kozelek sings about “jerking off to Pokémon”). Another song, “Wheat Bread,” is around 17 minutes long. The album is now streaming in its entirety. Listen here.

The stream is accompanied by a conversation between Kozelek and novelist John Connolly. (The 2012 Sun Kil Moon album Among the Leaves was named after an excerpt from one of Connolly’s novels.) Kozelek discusses his collaborations with Broadrick, writing about events that were topical last year, touring less in the coming years, feeling ambivalent about his older work, and the inspirations behind the new songs. When Connolly asked about the autobiographical nature of his songs, Kozelek replied, “I don't feel the need to commit to what is fact or fiction, because it's not what songwriting is about, to me.” Read the entire thing here.
