Earlier today, M.I.A. shared a Periscope stream of her rehearsals for an upcoming Warehouse Project show in Manchester. During that stream, she started with a run-through of Matangi’s “Bring the Noize,” before she said, “Kill the EDM version!” and practiced the original. In a new Periscope stream, M.I.A. seems to have brought the EDM version back to life, by rapping the song over the beat for DJ Snake and Lil Jon’s “Turn Down for What.” The instrumental comes in at 22:11, and she starts rapping at 22:55.
Elsewhere in the stream, M.I.A. gave some brief practice performances of “XR2” (from Kala) and songs from her new album AIM, (“Bird Song,” “Fly Pirate,” “A.M.P”). She also did some setlist workshopping. (There were discussions of whether or not they should cut “Paper Planes” from the setlist.) Watch her latest Periscope stream below.
