Today, Kid Cudi took to Twitter to air out some of his feelings about the music industry. He began, “I need yall to know I got so many haters within the industry and these clowns know Im bout to crush their entire existance,” adding, “Everyone thinks they’re soooo great. Talkin top 5 and be having 30 people write songs for them.” He pulled back momentarily, praising A$AP Rocky, A$AP Mob, Travis Scott (who included Cudi on his new record Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight), and others, before calling out the industry’s “jealous chicken hearted shits.” Eventually, he targeted longtime collaborator Kanye West, as well as Drake. He wrote, “My tweets apply to who they apply. Ye, Drake, whoever. These niggas dont give a fuck about me. And they aint fuckin with me.” See all of Kid Cudi’s tweets below.
Kid Cudi and Kanye West have a relationship that stretches back nearly a decade. One of Cudi’s first major breakthroughs came when he featured on West’s 808s & Heartbreak in 2008. The next year, Cudi released his debut studio album Man on the Moon: The End of Day, which featured West. Cudi was also signed to West’s G.O.O.D. Music imprint, appearing on the 2012 compilation Cruel Summer. He left the label in 2013, but continued collaborating with West. He was annoyed when West used old vocals of his for 2013’s Yeezus cut “Guilt Trip,” but Cudi still contributed to The Life of Pablo. Cudi and Drake have not released any songs together, but Drake earned a reputation of using ghostwriters, stemming from his beef with Meek Mill.
