Drake: "Trophies" on SoundCloud.
Drake has released a new song called "Trophies", as Rap-Up points out. He originally teased the track (produced by Hit-Boy, Hagler, and Noah "40" Shebib) back in September in a trailer for Nothing Was the Same, but "Trophies" did not make it onto the album.

Listen to David Bowie's Christmas Message for the BBC
Consequence of Sound reports that, during the first broadcast of former the Clash members Mick Jones, Paul Simonon, and Topper Headon's BBC 6 radio show This Is Radio Clash , David Bowie pulled an Iggy and offered a brief, curiously affected Christmas message (a day late, Ziggy) for listeners.Listen to the message below, which went something like this:
“Hello everybody, this is David Bowie making a telephone call from the US of A. At this time of the year I can’t help but remember my British-ness and all the jolly British folk, so here’s to you and have yourselves a Merry little Christmas and a Happy New Year. Thank you very much.”

Beck in Legal Struggle Over Property Damage
TMZ reports that Beck is trapped in a legal pressure zone (haha) with actor/director Til Schweiger. Beck, who rented Schweiger's Malibu mansion from 2010 to February 2013, has filed a lawsuit over an unreturned $11,000 security deposit, with TMZ claiming on Beck's end that the damage done to the mansion upon Beck's arrival included "Mold, plumbing and electrical issues which caused further damage to everything from the fridge to the washing machine ... and even laptops." Schweiger, in return, has filed a countersuit claiming that Beck caused "substantial physical damage", which required $40,571 in repairs, and also commissioned unauthorized work to be done while staying at the mansion. He's asking for a total of $56,704.24 in damages, which includes the repairs and unpaid back rent.
Beck's new LP, Morning Phase , is out in February via Capitol. Listen to a recent non-album single, "I Won't Be Long", below.

Google Removes Rap Genius From Search Results
Rap Genius has been removed from Google's top search results as a result of the what Google sees as manipulative SEO practices. The Los Angeles Times reports that "Google took down Rap Genius after it was revealed that the lyrics website, which received $15 million in fundingfrom Andreessen Horowitz last year, was offering bloggers exposure through its social media accounts in exchange for links to its website on their music blogs." (This news follows Rap Genius' licensing agreement with Sony/ATV Music Publishing following a take down notice from the National Music Publishers' Association this past November.)
Responding to Google's action, the lyrics website has published an "Open Letter to Google About Rap Genius SEO" where they explain their SEO strategy and say that they have "never bought or sold links" and "don’t tweet out weak content," but do admit that they "messed up" when it came to Google's linking policy in regards to "creating links that weren’t editorially placed or vouched for by the site’s owner on a page, otherwise known as unnatural links, can be considered a violation of our guidelines."
Rap Genius ends the letter by stating: "Rap Genius is the product of many passionate communities collaborating to create a massive, living knowledge base for the world to enjoy. We do not want to break Google’s rules, and will do whatever it takes to learn them inside out and comply with them."
But don't try to Google said letter—it won't show up.

Angel Haze's Dirty Gold Release Date Moved to December 30 Following Her Leak
A pissed-off Angel Haze up and leaked her debut album Dirty Gold yesterday, about three months before its scheduled release date through Island Records. The stream was promptly taken down, but she did achieve her goal to get the record out before the end of the year. Island has bumped the digital release date up to December 30 in the U.S. and the UK. It was originally supposed to come out March 3.
The rapper writes on Twitter:
Behind every rebel is a fucking reason. Just want to say thank you guys for your support today. Thanks to those who heard the album and fucked with it. Thanks to everyone who stood up for me. My labels didn't think that I would do it, but I did. It's hard to put at risk everything I've spent this year working on but I had to for both me and you guys. No one should ever be afforded the opportunity to fuck with your dreams. REGARDLESS OF WHO THEY ARE. They do not own you or your faith or your future and because of what you guys helped me show them. My labels have agreed to release Dirty Gold December 30th. Uk & US. (Rest of the world, we are coming for you as well). Thank you all. Night

Led Zeppelin Catalogue to Stream on Spotify
Big win for Spotify in the ongoing battle of Spotify vs. the music industry. Led Zeppelin's entire catalogue is becoming available for streaming exclusively through Spotify. This is a first for Led Zeppelin, who've never before licensed their music for streaming. It's also a big win for Spotify in the ongoing battle of Spotify vs. other streaming services, which are exploding in number.
Led Zeppelin were one of a few big remaining holdouts in the streaming arena. The Beatles, AC/DC, and Bob Seger still haven't signed up for Spotify and their ilk. (Though they do make their music available on iTunes.)
Led Zeppelin and Led Zeppelin II are available now, with new albums being added every day through Sunday, December 15, at which point the entire discography will be on Spotify.
And Spotify made another big announcement today: free mobile/tablet versions of the service are now available. The mobile/tablet version was previously subscription-only.

Video: R. Kelly: "Cookie"
Lest you had not previously grasped the full scope of the lyrics of an R. Kelly song called "Cookie", he's got a video for it. It paints the song—from his new album Black Panties —in a very real light (Kells eats an Oreo cookie and pours milk into a bathtub with a half-naked girl in it.) It's not as explicit as it probably could be, but it's still not exactly safe for work, either.

Watch Tyler, the Creator and Earl Sweatshirt Perform GTA V Track "Garbage" at the VGX Awards
This weekend's VGX Awards—the annual show honoring the best video games of the year—was, naturally, a Grand Theft Auto V lovefest. Accordingly, Tyler, the Creator and Earl Sweatshirt teamed up for a performance of "Garbage", the song Tyler did for the GTA V soundtrack. And they did it in zany suits, because why not.

Pixies Recruit New Bassist, Expand Tour
Following the departure of bassists Kim Deal and her replacement, Kim Shattuck, the Pixies have recruited a bassist not named Kim. Their new touring bandmate is Paz Lenchatin, who's played with A Perfect Circle, Zwan, and the Entrance Band.
She'll join the band on an expanded 2014 tour, which includes a string of international festival dates in the spring and summer. That schedule is here.
And as they've done quite a bit lately, the Pixies have shared a new video. Directed by Liviu Boar, his one's for EP-1 cut "Another Toe in the Ocean":

Watch Miguel Do Bill Withers' "Ain't No Sunshine" With Keith Urban at the Grammy Nominations Concert
Last night, CBS aired its annual Grammy Nominations Concert, disappointingly Drake-free. But 2012 Grammy winner Miguel picked up the slack a bit with a duet with country star Keith Urban. Together, they did their own rendition of Bill Withers' "Ain't No Sunshine". Miguel was also nominated for two Grammys last night.

Daft Punk, Kendrick Lamar Nominated for Grammy for Album of the Year
The 56th Grammy Awards will go down on Sunday, January 26. Tonight, CBS aired its annual "Grammy Nominations Concert" special, a hoopla-filled event thrown to reveal the nominations.
The Grammy eligibility period does not line up with the calendar year, so bear in mind that the nominated releases are from the beginning of October 2012 through the end of September 2013.
Daft Punk's Random Access Memories and Kendrick Lamar's good kid, m.A.A.d City were both nominated for Album of the Year. They're up against Taylor Swift, Sara Bareilles, and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis.
Daft Punk, Nile Rodgers, and Pharrell were nominated for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for "Get Lucky". Justin Timberlake and Jay-Z were nominated in the same category for "Suit & Tie".

R.I.P. Reggae Singer Junior Murvin
Reggae singer Junior Murvin passed away today at a hospital in Portland, Jamaica, the Jamaica Observer reports (via NME ) . He'd been admitted to the hospital last week for treatment for diabetes and hypertension treatment, but no cause of death has been determined yet. He was 67 years old.
Murvin is best known as the man behind the 1976 reggae hit "Police & Thieves" (produced by Lee "Scratch" Perry), which broke him out of the local Jamaican scene and put him on the international radar, particularly in the UK. It was later covered by the Clash and Boy George. Murvin released his debut album, Police & Thieves, on Island Records in 1977. It was produced by Perry.
He went on to release several more solo albums through the 70s, 80s and 90s, working with Joe Gibbs, Mikey Dread, Prince Jammy, King Tubby, and more.

Listen to RZA's Paul Walker Tribute
RZA: "Destiny Bends" [ft. Will Wells] (demo) on SoundCloud.
In the wake of Paul Walker's tragic death, RZA has shared a demo version of a song he recorded this weekend in honor of the actor. The track, "Destiny Bends", features vocalist Will Wells. RZA and Walker met on the set of the film Brick Mansion and developed a kinship, RZA writes on his SoundCloud page:
This song, entitled "Destiny Bends" was written last night after hearing the tragic news of the loss of a good man named Paul Walker. I met Paul on the set of the film Brick Mansion, where we talked, laughed, and exchanged ideas of life and fatherhood. I only knew him personally for less than a year, but we knew each other through our work and art. We saw in each other a kindred spirit of men coming from unlikely circumstances, and rising to be the light and beacon of our family and loved ones. Men who learned the joy and pains of love in life, and success, while coming to realize that nothing is more important than family, friendship, and the brotherhood of humanity. Millions of people get to know an artist or movie star through their work, but few are allowed to cross each others' paths and see through the veil of stardom and find the common denominator that we share. As all physical things will decay and wither away, film, art, and music remain longer than the vessel that delivered them. In this vein, the one thing we can't take away or give back is time. So, thus, time is the most precious gift. I dedicated my time to compose this song with my two sons and new friend Will Wells, who was kind enough to sing and perform it for me. We dedicate it to Paul Walker. A good man. We had plans to continue working with each other in the future. It seemed destined, but "destiny bends". *Note* This song is not for criticism, it's just a sketch demo. Please enjoy and reflect.
Your comrade in the struggle,
RZA
