Big win for Spotify in the ongoing battle of Spotify vs. the music industry. Led Zeppelin's entire catalogue is becoming available for streaming exclusively through Spotify. This is a first for Led Zeppelin, who've never before licensed their music for streaming. It's also a big win for Spotify in the ongoing battle of Spotify vs. other streaming services, which are exploding in number.
Led Zeppelin were one of a few big remaining holdouts in the streaming arena. The Beatles, AC/DC, and Bob Seger still haven't signed up for Spotify and their ilk. (Though they do make their music available on iTunes.)
Led Zeppelin and Led Zeppelin II are available now, with new albums being added every day through Sunday, December 15, at which point the entire discography will be on Spotify.
And Spotify made another big announcement today: free mobile/tablet versions of the service are now available. The mobile/tablet version was previously subscription-only.
