Watch Fleet Foxes’ Sydney Opera House Show in Full

Earlier today, Fleet Foxes performed their final show at the Sydney Opera House in Sydney, Australia, the last of four nights playing at the venue. They live streamed the set in its entirety on Facebook. As promised, it included numerous cuts off their forthcoming album Crack-Up. The set list also contained a Bee Gees cover, “In the Morning.” Watch the full concert below; music begins around the 19-minute mark. Crack-Up is due out June 16 via Nonesuch. To date, Robin Pecknold and company have released two songs from the album: “Third of May / Ōdaigahara” and “Fool’s Errand,” both of which were performed during the Sydney show.

Watch Todd Rundgren Premiere His New Anti-Trump Music Video on Fox News

Last night, Todd Rundgren went on the Fox News show “Watters World” to premiere his video for his Donald Fagen collaboration “Tin Foil Hat.” The video makes fun of Donald Trump, Steve Bannon, Jeff Sessions, and Kellyanne Conway, and former Fox News anchor Bill O'Reilly. On the show, Rundgren explained that song’s visual was “pretty much only intended for [his live] audience,” meant to screen during Rundgren’s costume change. However, the musician began to notice “episodes in the audience where shouting matches would break out,” because some of the members thought the jokes to be in bad taste. In a recent interview with Variety, Rundgren warned Trump supporters that they might not enjoy his show because of his political beliefs: “If you’re a Trump supporter, don’t come to my show, because you won’t have a good time... Let the buyer beware!”

Host Jesse Watters questioned Rundgren during the segment: “OK, so you have a very provocative intermission video while you do your little costume change. It disrespects and mocks President Trump and people in the audience were getting upset about it, so now you’re saying, ‘You know what, don’t come to my show if you can’t handle it.’ Don’t you think that’s being a little discriminatory?” The two exchanged a few heated words before Watters debuted the “Tin Foil Hat” visual on air. “Tin Foil Hat” is from Rundgren’s recent White Knight album, which features contributions from Robyn, Trent Reznor, Daryl Hall, and more.

Guns N’ Roses Pay Tribute to Soundgarden’s Chris Cornell With “Black Hole Sun”

Guns N' Roses added to the list of bands who have paid tribute to Soundgarden’s Chris Cornell. The band performed “Black Hole Sun” on Saturday during their tour stop in Ireland. Watch below via Rolling Stone. Tributes have poured out from the music community since Cornell’s passing. His Audioslave bandmate Tom Morello penned a note in his memory. Others, such as St. Vincent, Brian Wilson, and Sadie Dupuis, memorialized Cornell on social media. In addition, Megadeth, Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Josh Klinghoffer, Heart’s Ann Wilson, and others have covered his songs in his honor. In Seattle, fans gathered at the Sound Garden sculpture park, from which Cornell’s band took their name. The city’s iconic Space Needle was also blacked out in memoriam.

Cornell died of an apparent suicide on May 17; his family have questioned the cause of death, which was determined by the Wayne County Medical Examiner.

The Allman Brothers Band’s Gregg Allman Dead at 69

Gregg Allman has died, Billboard reports. The news was confirmed with a note on Allman’s website. The singer, songwriter, and guitarist from the Allman Brothers Band, who had a prolific solo career of his own, was 69. Allman had a serious of health troubles in recent years. He was diagnosed with hepatitis C in 2007 and had a liver transplant in 2010. The rocker cancelled a series of 2016 shows so that he could take time off from touring to “focus on his health.” A planned 2017 tour was also scrapped due to “serious health issues.” A cause of death is currently unknown.

Allman was born in Nashville in 1947. After playing in a variety of bands with his brother Duane, they co-founded the Allman Brothers Band in 1969. Their debut self-titled album came out that year. In 1971, they released their live album At Fillmore East, which was a critical and commercial success. About three months after that album’s release, Duane died in a motorcycle crash at age 24. Following his brother’s death, Gregg continued performing with a rotating cast of musicians in the Allman Brothers Band. Their next album, 1972’s Eat a Peach, featured posthumously released recordings by Duane. The Allman Brothers Band split in 1976, but would reunite off-and-on throughout the years. They played their last show in 2014.

Gregg launched his solo recording career with 1973’s Laid Back; his most recent album was 2011’s Low Country Blues. In 1975, he married Cher. They had a son together and made the 1977 album Two the Hard Way before divorcing in 1978. Allman struggled with drug and alcohol abuse throughout his life; he once said that he’d gone to rehab 17 different times. His memoir My Cross to Bear was released in 2012.

Frank Ocean Cancels Primavera Sound Set

Frank Ocean has canceled his performance at this year’s Primavera Sound. Again, the stated reason for the cancellation is due to “production delays beyond his control,” the festival said in a statement. “The artist has apologised and has reiterated his wish to come to Barcelona soon.” Refunds are being offered to anyone holding a day ticket. He previously canceled his headlining sets at Sasquatch! (where he was replaced by LCD Soundsystem) and Hangout (where he was replaced by Phoenix). Frank’s upcoming performances were set to be his first since the release of last year’s comeback albums, Blonde and Endless.

LCD Soundsystem Say New Album Is Finished

LCD Soundsystem have apparently finished their album. James Murphy made the announcement during their set last night at Sasquatch! Music Festival in George, Washington. A Reddit user recalled Murphy saying that the album is “finally done, feel like we knocked it out of the park on this one.” Video hasn’t surfaced of the moment, but a representative for Sasquatch confirms that Murphy made that announcement. The band has been teasing the follow up to 2010’s This is Happening for a while; in January, Murphy explained that they were “still working on it, but it’ll be done soon.” Pitchfork has reached out to representatives for LCD Soundsystem for further comment.

The new LP will likely feature their recently released singles “Call the Police” and “American Dream,” which were debuted live during LCD Soundsystem’s Brooklyn residency. The band also performed the new songs recently on SNL. LCD Soundsystem is set to headline this year’s Pitchfork Music Festival in July alongside A Tribe Called Quest and Solange.

Rodney Bingenheimer’s KROQ Radio Show Ending After 40 Years

“Rodney on the Roq,” a long-running staple of L.A. radio, will soon end after 40 years. Radio icon Rodney Bingenheimer took to Facebook to announce that his last show for KROQ-FM will take place June 4 at midnight Pacific. “It has been an amazing run, and I will be thanking all of you when I say goodbye to KROQ next week,” he writes. “I am planning on some special callers and special music as I say a proper goodbye.” He also promises that he will continue his career after the show’s end: “As this chapter closes, I will be opening another chapter of my rock life soon. I may be done with KROQ, but I am not retiring.” He hints that the reason for the change is because of KROQ’s “new management.” Read his full statement below.

“Rodney on the Roq” first aired in August 1976. Throughout the years, Bigenheimer was known to be among the first to spin artists who are now famous, including the Sex Pistols, Blondie, Duran Duran, Sublime, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and more. In 2003, Bigenheimer was the subject of the George Hickenlooper-directed documentary Mayor of the Sunset Strip, which chronicled his career. Find its trailer below.

Oneohtrix Point Never Wins Soundtrack Award at Cannes Film Festival

Oneohtrix Point Never (Daniel Lopatin) has won the Soundtrack Award at Cannes Film Festival 2017. He was honored for his original score for Good Time, a new crime thriller directed by Josh and Benny Safdie. The film stars Robert Pattinson and Jennifer Jason Leigh. Lopatin beat out Radiohead’s Jonny Greenwood, Jed Kurzel, and Ibrahim Maalouf for the award. He joins former winners Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Cliff Martinez, Howard Shore, Jim Jarmusch’s band SQÜRL, Lim Giong, and more. Lopatin’s score features a collaborative song with Iggy Pop called “The Pure and the Damned,” which can be heard in the film’s trailer below. Good Time hits theaters August 11.

Oneohtrix Point Never’s last release was 2015’s Garden of Delete. He and David Byrne are reportedly working on new music together.

Watch Pixies Perform “Tenement Song” on “Colbert”

Pixies made an appearance on last night’s episode of “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.” The band performed the song “Tenement Song,” which appears on their most recent album Head Carrier. Watch it go down below. Having just wrapped up a string of dates with Cymbals Eat Guitars, Pixies are set to tour through the rest of 2017 alongside Whitney, Mitski, the Orwells, and others. Frank Ocean on Forever 21 Storefront Using Blonde Font: “Uhh”

Last night, Frank Ocean posted a photo on his Tumblr. It shows a storefront where the words “pop-up shop” are spelled out in fonts similar to those used on the cover of his album Blonde and his magazine Boys Don’t Cry. While the name of the store is cropped out, an uncropped version of the photo shared on Twitter (below) reveals that it’s apparently a Forever 21 window display. The day Blonde was released last year, the album and magazine were distributed at a series of pop-up shops around the country. Ocean captioned the photo: “😳 uhh.” (The post has since been edited to only feature the emoji—find a screenshot of the original post below.) Pitchfork has reached out to Ocean and Forever 21’s representatives for comment.

Watch Chance Join Francis and the Lights On Stage for “May I Have This Dance (Remix)”

Chance the Rapper recently appeared in the music video for his new collaboration with Francis and the Lights, “May I Have This Dance (Remix).” It featured Chance and Francis Starlite doing a choreographed dance routine in the vein of the one found in Francis’ 2016 video for “Friends.” Now (as he’s done before), Chance has joined Francis during the latter’s performance at Boston Calling festival to perform the new track. Watch them recreate the choreography below. Francis joined Chance on his Magnificent Coloring World Tour last year, and also appeared on the Coloring Book song “Summer Friends.”

Fleet Foxes Announce Sydney Opera House Show Live Stream

Fleet Foxes are performing at the iconic Sydney Opera House in Sydney, Australia from May 27-29, for three shows at the venue as part of their tour leading up to their new album, Crack-Up. Now, Robin Pecknold and co. have announced the final show at the famed concert hall will be live streamed on the band’s Facebook page at 6 a.m. ET/3 a.m. PT. Fleet Foxes have confirmed they’ll be performing songs off their new album. Their current tour will take them through Europe this summer, before it returns to the United States with a show in Portland, Maine on July 27. Thus far, Fleet Foxes have shared two songs off the new album: “Third of May / Ōdaigahara” and “Fool’s Errand.”

Watch Against Me! Cover the Mountain Goats’ “The Best Ever Death Metal Band in Denton”

During their performance for House of Strombo—a new concert series from Apple Music hosted by George Stroumboulopoulos—Against Me! performed a cover of the Mountain Goats’ “The Best Ever Death Metal Band in Denton,” off the band’s 2002 album All Hail West Texas. “I’m going to play one cover just because I feel so inclined to do it and because I've been really into this song lately,” Laura Jane Grace announces, “This is a song by one of my all-time favorite songwriters.” Watch it below, starting around 42:22. 

Against Me! have also made their 7” single for this year’s Record Store Day available for streaming. Below, listen to the songs “Stabitha Christie” and “First High of the Morning.” Both tracks come from the sessions for Against Me!’s most recent album, Shape Shift With Me. The band is currently on tour behind that album through the rest of the year, featuring dates with Bleached.

Ariana Grande Releases New Statement On Manchester Attack: “We Won’t Let Hate Win”

After the tragic attack  that took place at Ariana Grande’s May 22 concert in Manchester, which left 22 dead and 59 others injured, Grande opened up with a brief statement: “broken. from the bottom of my heart, i am so so sorry. i don't have words,” she wrote. Now, she has shared more thoughts on the event in a full statement, posted to her Twitter account. “There is nothing I or anyone can do to take away the pain you are feeling or to make this better,” she said. “However, I extend my hand and heart and everything I possibly can give to you and yours, should you want or need my help in any way.” She went on to say, “We will not quit or operate in fear. We won’t let this divide us. We won’t let hate win.” Read the full statement below.

Real Estate Design Shoe, Donating Proceeds to ACLU

Real Estate have collaborated on a new shoe with Keep—the Los Angeles vegan footwear company that has worked with Ad-Rock, Bon Iver, Deakin, and more. The “Keep x Real Estate limited edition Ramos” has “a natural gum cup sole,” as well as a hand-dyed upper area, which gives each shoe a unique design. They are available to pre-order here, and are set to ship in August. In addition, each pair of the Real Estate Ramos comes with a previously unreleased track on cassette. Live Nation Offers Refunds for UK Shows Following Manchester Attack

Live Nation has announced that it will offer refunds for UK concerts, following the bombing at Ariana Grande’s Manchester performance on May 22. The refunds are available to fans who choose to request them, a Live Nation representative confirmed to Pitchfork. Several artists have cancelled concerts in the area following the attacks. Among the performers who have cancelled or postponed shows are KISS, Blondie, and Take That, according to Billboard. In addition, Ariana Grande recently announced that she has suspended her tour through June 5.

After reports confirmed that a suicide bomber was responsible for the attacks, the UK government raised the terror threat level to “critical,” indicating another attack may be imminent. Authorities identified the attacker as 22-year-old Salman Abedi. As of today, the Greater Manchester Police have arrested eight people in their ongoing investigation.

Mary J. Blige has shared a new video for “Love Yourself,” a track from her latest record, Strength of a Woman. While the album version featured a guest verse from Kanye West, the video accompanies a new version of the song, featuring a verse from A$AP Rocky. The clip, directed by Taj, was shot in Los Angeles and New York City. Watch it below, via Complex. Blige recently embarked on her Strength of a Woman Tour, which follows her recent trek with Maxwell (captured in a new documentary).

Lorde’s “Green Light” Gets New Chromeo Remix: Listen

Chromeo have remixed Lorde’s “Green Light.” Check out the track and cover art below. “Green Light” leads Lorde’s forthcoming Pure Heroine follow-up, Melodrama; it was followed by another new song, “Liability.” She also debuted new music at a secret show in Los Angeles and, the following weekend, at Coachella, where she played “Homemade Dynamite” and “Sober” (and sang a little bit of Kanye West’s “Runaway”). Melodrama, out June 16 via LAVA/Republic, is largely influenced by “all the gross moments, all the great moments” of early adulthood, Lorde said in a recent interview.

Best of Big Star Announced

A selection of Big Star songs have been compiled for a new best-of compilation on Stax. It’ll feature 16 tracks from the group’s three albums, #1 Record, Radio City, and Third. See the tracklist below. Among the selections are a handful of rare single edits. The set will also feature an introduction by Jody Stephens, the group’s drummer and only surviving member, as well as liner notes from Robert Gordon, who produced the concert film Big Star: Live in Memphis. Earlier this month, a book on the late Chris Bell was announced—There Was A Light: The Cosmic History of Big Star Founder Chris Bell—along with a new box set.

Gucci Mane: Drop Top Wop [Atlantic]

The prolific Gucci Mane returns with a new album, Droptopwop. It is produced by Metro Boomin; guests include Rick Ross, Offset (of Migos), 2 Chainz, and Young Dolph. Droptopwop is Gucci’s first full-length of 2017. Last year, after being released from prison in May, he put out six projects: Everybody Looking, the GucTiggy EP (with Zaytoven), Woptober, Free Bricks 2: Zone 6 Edition (with Future), 1017 vs. the World (with Lil Uzi Vert), and The Return of East Atlanta Santa.

Swet Shop Boys: Sufi La EP [Customs] 

Swet Shop Boys—Heems (formerly of Das Racist), Riz MC (Riz Ahmed) and UK producer Redinho—released a physical edition of their new EP, Sufi La, on Record Store Day (April 22). Nick Cave & Warren Ellis: War Machine OST [Lakeshore/Invada]

Nick Cave and Warren Ellis composed the score for the Netflix original film War Machine, which was directed by David Michôd and stars Brad Pitt, Topher Grace, Tilda Swinton, and others. Last year, Cave and Ellis scored the film Hell or High Water, adding to a catalog that includes scores for Far From Men and 2009’s The Road, which both star Viggo Mortensen.
