Charli XCX Cast in The Angry Birds Movie

Charli XCX has been cast in The Angry Birds Movie, the upcoming animated film based on the popular mobile games. Producer John Cohen announced on his Twitter that she will voice a bird named Willow, as The Hollywood Reporter points out. That's Willow above, on the right. Watch the film's trailer below.

The Angry Birds Movie hits theaters May 20. It stars Jason Sudeikis as a very angry bird named Red. Kate McKinnon, Peter Dinklage, Keegan-Michael Key, Hannibal Buress, Bill Hader, Maya Rudolph, and more have also lent their voices to the movie.

Bon Iver's Justin Vernon Introduces Bernie Sanders at Eau Claire Rally: Watch

On Saturday morning, April 2, Democratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders held a rally at W.L. Zorn Arena at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Eau Claire native Justin Vernon (of Bon Iver) introduced Sanders at the event, endorsing him in his speech. Watch below (starting at 5:21), via NME.

Vernon is the latest musician to throw his support behind Sanders. Earlier this week, the Thermals opened for him at a Portland rally. In January, Vampire Weekend's Ezra Koenig and Dirty Projectors' Dave Longstreth played at an Iowa rally. Koenig also discussed Sanders on CNN. And Killer Mike has given speeches at rallies, interviewed Sanders at length, talked about him on "Colbert," been on a panel with him about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and represented him in a post-debate spin room.

Guns N' Roses Play First Reunion Show: Watch

Last night, the Guns N' Roses reunion tour kicked off at the Troubadour in West Hollywood, California. The "original" lineup included Axl Rose, Slash, and Duff McKagan (drummer Izzy Stradlin has confirmed he will not participate in the reunion). Watch Interpol's Carlos D Play Bass on "Late Night With Seth Meyers"

Carlos Dengler, aka Carlos D, who was a founding member and bassist of Interpol, left the band back in 2010. He is now a professional actor and is working on a book, as well as a one-man autobiographical show. This week, he briefly returned to playing music as a member of the 8G Band, the house band for "Late Night With Seth Meyers," as Stereogum points out. Dengler tweeted that it was the "[first] time in almost a decade" that he's played bass live. On Tuesday night's episode, guest Tracy Morgan specifically pointed him out, telling Meyers, "I like that bass player. That's my bass player over there." Meyers asked, "You know Carlos?" Despite his amusement, Morgan answered, "No, I don't." Watch it below (starting at 2:13).

Fred Armisen leads the 8G Band. Past guests include St. Vincent (who filled in for Armisen as bandleader), J Mascis, Marnie Stern, and Eleanor Friedberger.

Last night, the first of two Music of David Bowie tribute shows took place at Carnegie Hall. At the concert, Michael Stipe, the Flaming Lips, Pixies, the Mountain Goats, Cat Power, Debbie Harry, J Mascis, Sean Ono Lennon, and more covered classic Bowie songs. Tonight, the second show will be held at New York's Radio City Music Hall. Pixies, Michael Stipe, J Mascis, Blondie, Esperanza Spalding, Mumford & Sons, Jherek Bischoff, Amanda Palmer, Amanda Calvi, Kronos Quartet, and more are slated to perform. Tickets sold out quickly, but the show is available to stream in exchange for a donation. One donation to Music of David Bowie benefits eight non-profits: Melodic Caring Project, Grammy in the Schools, Fixing Instruments for Kids in Schools, Church Street School for Music & Art, the Orchestra Now, the Center for Arts Education, Little Kids Rock, Sonic Arts for All!, and the D'Addario Foundation. Kevin Gates Releases "Not the Only One" Video: Watch

Big Boi and Phantogram (Big Grams) Don Animal Suits in Crazy Video for Skrillex Collaboration "Drum Machine:" Watch

Big Boi and Phantogram (aka Big Grams) have shared a video for "Drum Machine," their collaboration with Skrillex off last year's self-titled EP. Directed by Bryan Barber, the clip follows three furries—Redd Wolf, Dabs the squirrel, and Purp the gorilla—as they wreak havoc across town. After flipping off strangers, smoking weed, and partying in a club, the creatures are revealed as Sarah Barthel, Josh Carter, and Big Boi. Although Skrillex doesn't make an appearance, there's a short scene where two cops beat up one "Sonny Panda:" an ostensible reference to Skrillex's government name. Watch below, but be warned: it's not exactly safe for work. Earlier this week, Big Grams shared an animated video for their songs "Born to Shine" and "Run For Your Life."

In addition to their headlining Coachella show, the somewhat-reformed Guns N' Roses (original guitarist Izzy Stradlin confirmed he will not participate in the reunion) will hit up a slew of cities across North America. Man Man's Honus Honus Announces Debut Solo Album Use Your Delusion, Teases New Music

Man Man frontman Honus Honus has announced his debut solo effort, Use Your Delusion. To fund its release, he's launched a Pledge Music campaign that includes a trailer featuring a snippet of new music. Watch it here. Depending on how much they donate, supporters can win handwritten lyric sheets, autographed piano keys, personalized ringtones—"I’d recommend the 'Honus screaming like a maniac option,'" the musician writes— a one-of-a-kind denim jacket, and even a house show performed by the entire band. Head here to chip in. 

Honus enlisted a slew of noteworthy players for his self-described "apocalyptic LA pop album," which does not currently have a release date. Modest Mouse/Shins drummer Joe Plummer (a member of Honus' side band Mister Heavenly) provided percussion, actress Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Shannon & the Claims’ Shannon Shaw contributed guest vocals, and Jon Daly (best known for his work on Comedy Central's sketch comedy series "The Kroll Show") lent sax performances. Adult Swim composer Cyrus Gharemani, aka Cyrus the King, produced the record. 

Man Man's last album, On Oni Pond, was released in 2013.

Spencer Krug Announces New Moonface Album My Best Human Face With Siinai, Releases New Song "Risto's Riff": Listen

Spencer Krug has announced the latest album under his Moonface moniker. My Best Human Face, the follow-up to 2013's album Julia with Blue Jeans On and 2014's City Wrecker EP, arrives June 3 via Jagjaguwar. The seven-track release marks Krug's latest body of work with Finnish band Siinai, with whom he previously collaborated for the 2012 album With Siinai: Heartbreaking Bravery. In advance of the release, Moonface and Siinai have shared "Risto's Riff," the album's first single. The latest Moonface album arrives just as Krug's former band Wolf Parade return from a lengthy hiatus. Next month, the band will reissue their excellent debut album Apologies to the Queen Mary and head out on tour. Read our interview with Krug about Wolf Parade's reunion plans.

Here's what Krug had to say about the album in a press release:

I called this thing My Best Human Face not only because that's one of my favorite lines on the album, but because I sometimes don't know who I am, or if I'm as kind and generous and happy as other people. The title speaks to the vague theme of identity-confusion that is loosely woven into the songs - a reoccurring theme I recognized only after the writing was done. It’s a confusion which I think exists for most of us, sure, but that doesn’t mean it has to be the campfire in the middle of our circle; we don’t have to stare into the flames. It’s simply not that important. At end of it all, these are good-time songs, meant to inspire good times in the listener. They were made joyously, with a stubborn love of music at their centre. And while some of the content might be dark or sad, the memories of making these songs brings only gladness and gratitude, and it's their construction, not deconstruction, that I want to celebrate now.

Andrew Bird Shares "Capsized" Video: Watch

Andrew Bird has shared the music video for "Capsized." The track is off his new album, Are You Serious, out today via Loma Vista. The video shows Bird with a (literal) target on his back, navigating a dream-like landscape. It was directed by Tyler Manson, who worked on Bird's 2015 five-part Canyon short film series. Watch below.

Are You Serious features collaborations with Fiona Apple and Blake Mills. Bird is also on tour; check out those dates below. A part of the tour's proceeds will benefit his recently announced partnership with the Everytown for Gun Safety Support Fund, a movement aimed at reducing gun violence in America.

Run the Jewels Go Behind the Scenes of Their Virtual Reality "Crown" Video

Run the Jewels recently shared a virtual reality video for their Run the Jewels 2 single "Crown." Today, they've shared a behind-the-scenes video detailing its conception, as well as the technical wizardry that went into creating the experience. Check it out below, along with the original video. In an accompanying feature published on Motherboard, El-P expanded on their new virtual reality platform VRTJ. According to the rapper/producer, the duo are plotting more VR music videos, as well as a VR trailer for their upcoming album Run the Jewels 3 (which they recently said was halfway done). They'll also be taking part in Coachella's recently-announced virtual reality experiences, and plan to release a cardboard VR viewer later this month for Record Store Day. 

Speaking with Motherboard, El-P calling virtual reality "the future of music videos." He added that he's looking forward to "masturbat[ing] in cybertron:"

VR seems like the future of music videos to me for obvious reasons,” El-P said in an email. “Not only can you tell a story in a unique way in medium that has been begging for a next step for a long time, but you can also make a connection with the viewer in a way that just wasn’t available previously. There’s no way to top feeling like you are literally standing in the same environment as the character in the film you’re watching. It opens everything up. Mostly, though, I’m excited to finally masturbate in cybertron.

A$AP Ferg Teams With Big Sean for New Song "World Is Mine:" Listen

A$AP Ferg's gearing up to release his Trap Lord follow-up Always Strive and Prosper on April 22. Last week, he shared "Let It Bang," a collaboration with Schoolboy Q. (He also teased a new song, "Psycho," in its video.)  Yesterday, he premiered of another cut from the new record on Zane Lowe's Beats 1 show. "World Is Mine" features Big Sean, and you can hear it below. The track premiered on Zane Lowe's Beats 1 show today. Previously, Ferg and Sean teamed for "Ja-Rule," which appeared on Ferg's 2014 mixtape Ferg Forever.
