The dirt from Brian Wilson’s childhood home has been turned into a series of collectible LPs. In 2016, artist Jeff Hassay visited the site where Wilson’s house used to stand—before it was torn down years earlier—and made an 18-minute field recording. With that audio, he created Beach Boys House: Dirt Sounds (out June 6 via Small World). Each record was created by “pouring clear resin and dirt into silicone molds,” and contains soil from the home’s location. There are only 100 available albums, and they cost $100, according to the product description. Watch the making-of video below.
Meanwhile, Brian Wilson recently extended his tour celebrating the 50th anniversary of the classic Beach Boys album, Pet Sounds. He will now be on the road through October.
