The 2017 BET Awards are set to air Sunday, June 25, and will be held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, where Chance the Rapper will be awarded the BET Humanitarian Award. Past recipients of the award include Quincy Jones, Al Sharpton, and Muhammad Ali. Chance is being recognized for “positively impacting both local and national communities” with his support of “impactful educational, social and political initiatives.” In March, Chance donated $1 million to Chicago Public Schools, and raised over an additional $2 million after that. “It's an immense honor & I'm inspired to do so much more after receiving this,” the rapper said in a tweet. Find that below.
Elsewhere in the awards ceremony, New Edition (who recently got a BET miniseries, “The New Edition Story”) will be recognized with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Bruno Mars, Future, Migos, and more are set to give musical performances as well.
