Baroness have announced that longtime guitarist Pete Adams has exited the band. The move is a harmonious one with Adams focusing on projects closer to home. Frontman John Baizley offered his well wishes in a post shared on the band’s website. “Thank you Pete, for being a friend when I needed support, a brother when I needed family, and a bandmate when you and I had a hunger to see the world,” he wrote. Adams included his farewell, stating, “I feel beyond fortunate to have had the chance to travel great distances with Baroness and to meet so many [fans].” He will continue playing with Virginia-based metal band Valkyrie.
Baroness will replace Adams with guitarist Gina Gleason. “We hope our fans will share in our excitement and provide her a warm welcome into the Baroness family,” Baizley added. The band will be embarking on a European tour featuring many songs they haven’t played in years.
In 2013, drummer Allen Blickle and bassist Matt Maggioni announced they were departing following a serious bus crash in England that left both band and crew members in the hospital, and forced them to cancel their tour plans for nearly a year. Baroness released their last, excellent album, Purple, in 2015.
