Watch Gorillaz Awkwardly Freestyle on “Sway in the Morning”

Gorillaz are currently doing press appearances behind their most recent album Humanz. Frontman Damon Albarn brought along producer/songwriter Twilite Tone and Pos of De La Soul to “Sway in the Morning,” where they concluded a half-hour interview with—as is customary on “Sway”—a freestyle. Albarn looks positively mortified at the prospect before saying, “Alright, fuck it. Let’s see what happens.” “Mine might be singing-based,” he continues, eventually settling into a pattern as Twilite Tone takes a stab at rapping. The whole thing devolves into a laughing fit from the three musicians. Watch it go down below. The freestyle begins around the 36-minute mark.
