The Drums have shared a new track called “Head of the Horse” off their forthcoming album “Abysmal Thoughts”, which is out June 16 via Anti-. Listen below. Frontman Jonny Pierce said in a statement that he wrote the song about his Pentecostal preacher parents, who were anti-LGBTQ. Growing up in that atmosphere led to “a childhood that was riddled with self doubt, confusion and a lot of self-hate,” he said in a press release. “I find that the past still dominates a lot of my daily experiences—sometimes to the point of feeling paralyzed. The goal is to heal, and I think I am—but at a much slower pace than I am comfortable with.” The new song follows “Blood Under My Belt.” Watch the music video for that song here.
