If you have the New York Post’s mobile app on your phone, you may have noticed something strange happen over the weekend. On April 1 (April Fool’s Day), the app sent out multiple push notifications to users with various messages, including “Heil President Donald Trump” and “Open your heart to those you do not understand and listen to all those you fear and look down upon.” They also sent out a Nirvana lyric, according to the Associated Press, sourced from the band’s song “Come As You Are,” off Nevermind. “Take your time, hurry up, the choice is yours, but don’t be late...” It was later announced the app had been hacked, with the Post sending out a final notification that read, “Our push alert notification system was compromised this evening. We are working to resolve the issue. Please accept our apologies.”
