Wyclef Jean was detained early in the morning today in Los Angeles after police mistook him for a suspect in an armed robbery. Jean was stopped at a gas station and handcuffed without being told why, according to his Twitter account, and was released after “other police showed up and pointed out they had wrong person.” “As some one who has law enforcers in my family, I was appalled by this behavior of the LAPD,” the singer-songwriter tweeted later in the morning. According to the New York Times, the police eventually went on to arrest the correct suspect. Find the series of tweets from Jean following his release below.

They proceeded to ignore me and I was treated like a criminal until other police showed up and pointed out they had wrong person.

I am sure no father wants his sons or daughters to see him in Handcuffs especially if he is innocent.
