Mark Kozelek Covers Leonard Cohen on New Night Talks EP: Listen

Mark Kozelek—the artist behind Sun Kil Moon—has released a new EP under his own name, as Stereogum points out. It’s called Night Talks and is out via his Caldo Verde Records. The five-song effort includes a cover of Kath Bloom’s “Pretty Little Flowers” (featuring Bloom) and a cover of Leonard Cohen’s “Famous Blue Raincoat” (which he performed at a Cohen tribute this past November). There is also an acoustic version of “I Love Portugal” from Sun Kil Moon’s 2017 LP Common as Light and Love Are Red Valleys of Blood. At one point on “Astronomy,” Kozelek sings:

And as the adults talked about colonoscopies and stints and arteries and cholesterol medications, suddenly we looked around and we lost the children
Off to the rooms in their own little worlds doing whatever it is that children get into while us old people talk about old boring people things like Trump banning flights into
The United States, and we watch it on TV, series like Eugene Levy’s “Schitt’s Creek,” and my God, my dad snores pretty loud when he falls asleep

Listen to Night Talks below. The CD version is out April 1.
