Kanye West has settled a lawsuit over his Yeezus track “New Slaves.” Last year, Hungarian musician Gábor Presser sued West over his sample of “Gyöngyhajú lány” by Presser’s band Omega. In the suit, Presser alleged that West’s team sought and obtained permission for the sample in “New Slaves,” but only under the condition that a formal deal would be made. West allegedly sent a $10,000 check to Presser, who never cashed it, and the deal never solidified. He sought $2.5 million for copyright infringement in the suit. Terms of the settlement have not been disclosed, but Presser reportedly said, “I am very glad it is over.” One of his lawyers added, “The matter has been resolved amicably.”
