Last week, Gorillaz marked their return by releasing four new songs from their upcoming album Humanz. The group also shared the music video for “Saturnz Barz,” their new track with Popcaan. In addition to the standard visual, the clip was made available in 360-degree virtual reality. The “Saturnz Barz (Spirit House)” 360 clip has now set a record for the highest debut of a VR video in YouTube history, Billboard reports. The six-minute video—which involves a haunted house, a singing pizza, and a whole lot of chaos in outer space—was viewed more than three million times within its first 48 hours; its plays now exceed five million. The previous 48-hour record was held by Russian band УСПЕШНАЯ ГРУППА, who had 1.3 million views for their “СТРАННЫЙ” video, according to a press release. Revisit Gorillaz’s 360 video below.
Gorillaz recently announced their first North American show in seven years, ahead of their inaugural Demon Days Festival. The band premiered their new album in full last week at a star-studded comeback show in London. Humanz is due out April 28 via Parlophone.
