Azealia Banks reportedly took a plea deal today in the assault case over her December 2015 arrest, The New York Daily News reports. Banks faced misdemeanor assault and attempted assault charges after allegedly biting the breast of a nightclub security guard. Jury selection was scheduled to begin today, but instead, Banks reportedly took an offer from prosecutors. She has allegedly agreed to take one year of anger management classes, provide regular updates to the judge, and avoid further legal trouble. If she completes the anger management program without incident, her charge will be reduced from third-degree assault to disorderly conduct. If she doesn’t comply, she could face one year in jail, the Daily News reports.
Banks missed a recent scheduled hearing, which caused the judge to issue a warrant. Banks’ entertainment attorney John Vafa explained that Banks mixed up the court date and was unable to attend because she was in France for Paris Fashion Week. She appeared in court the next day, and the judge retracted the warrant.
