Andrea Bocelli will not perform at Donald Trump’s presidential inauguration on January 20, the New York Times reports. Last week, he was rumored as a possible performer after sixteen-year-old opera singer Jackie Evancho said she would sing “The Star-Spangled Banner” at the inauguration. Earlier today, Thomas J. Barrack Jr., the chairman of Trump’s inaugural committee told CNBC in an interview that Bocelli originally offered to perform, but Trump declined. You can watch that interview below.
Last month, Mötley Crüe’s Vince Neil said he was going to perform at Trump’s inauguration, but later said he was “uninvited.” Shortly after, a Trump advisor told the BBC that Elton John would play, but John and his manager quickly denied the claim.
