Bon Iver, Tom Waits, Nick Cave, Zach Galifianakis, Danny DeVito Collaborate on Book Project

Waxploitation has announced Stories for Ways and Means, a new 350-plus-page book that’s been 10 years in the making. The project was started by label head Jeff Antebi, who asked a wide variety of musicians to collaborate with visual artists on a set of illustrated stories. Among the 30 songwriters who contributed stories are Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon, Tom Waits, Nick Cave, Pixies’ Frank Black, My Morning Jacket’s Jim James, Laura Marling, Devendra Banhart, Alison Mosshart (of the Kills and the Dead Weather), Kathleen Hanna, Will Oldham, and Mica Levi. In addition, there are many guest narrators, who voiced short films accompanying the project. Those include King Krule, Joey Bada$$, Nick Offerman, Zach Galifianakis, Danny DeVito, Lizzo, and others. Below, watch a trailer for Stories for Ways and Means.

Proceeds from the book will go to two education-focused non-profits: Room to Read and Pencils of Promise. Pre-order the hardcover first edition of the book here; a release date has not yet been set.
