Gorillaz's Murdoc Says Oasis Better Than Blur in New Interview

Earlier this month, Gorillaz revealed what cartoon bassist Murdoc Niccals has been up to in “The Book of Murdoc,” the latest in the group’s series of visual backstories of bandmembers. Now, Murdoc has offered further insight on subjects ranging from politics and Brexit to Blur vs. Oasis, in a new interview with Noisey

During the conversation, Murdoc relives his early years growing up in England, from a “seminal” school performance of “Wheels on the Bus,” aged 6, to his first kiss, with a “bare-knuckle boxing champion” at a silage plant. He then paid tribute to Ringo Starr—because “while everyone else was coked out of their minds in the eighties, he did his career’s finest work on Thomas the Tank Engine”—before saying the Beatles are better than the Stones, and Oasis are better than Blur. Asked whether he voted to remain in the EU, Murdoc replied, “Why would I leave somewhere so great? Did you know Lithuania ranked number one in the world for internet upload and download speeds? Imagine what you could stream with that.”
