Nicolas Jaar has launched a mysterious radio network. It’s a “mutation” of his subscription-based “serial label” Other People, which launched in 2013. In a statement, he writes that the label will no longer service weekly releases, and instead “concentrate on a much smaller batch of yearly releases starting in 2017.” Read Jaar’s full statement below, and check out the site here.
The site features various channels, which the user can access by typing in a number between 0 and 333. Interestingly, the only channels that work are multiples of three. (Channel 0 also works.) When the user types in a number that’s not a multiple of three, it rounds up to the nearest multiple. For example, Channel 61 becomes 63.
Each channel features unique artwork, and some station titles appear to reference his work: “Pomegranates in the sky” ties to last year’s Pomegranates, while “Aesthetic of Resistance or Resistance” alludes to the title of a book about his father’s art and work. Icons at the top of the page trigger new noises, bring up all the station names, and bring up a display indicating time spent on the site. In his statement, Jaar is coy about the platform, writing, “I will let you guys discover what this is on your own.” He does, however, recommend checking out channels 324, 195, 108, 243, 225, and 33, and ending with 333.
The new website is Jaar’s second mysterious teaser this month. Last week, the producer posted artwork on his website and social media profiles that hints at new music. His website’s metadata also included “thetrilogy.jpg,” which could possibly tie back to the multiples of three on the new other-people.network site.

Nicolas Jaar statement:
Dear Opies,
First, I want to thank you for your amazing support over the past 3 years, you have allowed us to experiment and grow.
But most importantly, you’ve sustained a space for dozens of young artists from all over the world to begin or continue their paths.
Thank you
Thank you
Thank you
As some of you may have noticed, we have stopped our monthly subscription.
There are two reasons behind this decision. First of all, I will be playing live again and unable to be fully present on a week to week basis. But it’s also a financial decision: every release was a labour of love, and I took up DJing the last couple of years in part to finance the label.
We will now concentrate on a much smaller batch of yearly releases starting in 2017.
Until then, the site will mutate into http://ift.tt/2bFa90K (Chrome preferred)
I will let you guys discover what this is on your own but all I’ll say is that channels 324, 195, 108, 243, 225, 33 would be good places to start..
And channel 333 will be a good place to end. :)
Okay that’s all, see you on the road.Love,
N
