Frank Ocean’s long awaited third studio album Blonde has reached No. 1 on Billboard’s 200 chart. Blonde bumped the Suicide Squad soundtrack to reach the top spot. The album sold 44,000 copies in streaming equivalent albums and 232,000 in traditional album sales, for a total of 276,000 units. This marks Ocean’s first number one album; his 2012 album Channel Orange peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart in July of 2012.
His visual album Endless was absent from the 200 chart because in its current form (a 45-minute video that is not available for purchase or split into individual tracks) it was not considered eligible, according to Billboard. Over the course of the past week, Blonde was streamed 65.4 million times on Apple Music. According to anti-piracy company MUSO, Blonde has been illegally downloaded over 1 million times since its release.
