Flying Lotus Says Thom Yorke GIF Inspired Him to Start Making Films

The 2016 Sundance NEXT FEST will feature the directorial debut of Flying Lotus, under his alias “steve” (yes, lowercase), helming a short film called Royal. Today, he expanded on his turn toward film in a series of tweets, in which he said his label Brainfeeder will now operate a film division. He also said he was inspired to direct after seeing a "pretty awesome" GIF of him and Thom Yorke, which mimicked a fictitious conversation between the two musicians about a just-concluded DJ set. “I was fixated on this for a whole day and thought. Shit. I can make stuff like that,” he wrote. Find his tweets—and the GIF—below.
