James Alex of Beach Slang has just shared a cover of Liz Phair's “Chopsticks” on the band's Youtube page. You can listen to his cover below. “Chopsticks” originally appeared on Phair's 1994 album, Whip-Smart. The cover Alex shared is accompanied by a short video, which comes with a caption that explains the circumstances that inspired the cover:
Most nights, I skip sleep. On the really great ones, I stay awake bashing together cheap beer, home recordings, Liz Phair and 1970s anti-drinking PSAs. Last night, yeah, that was alright.
Later this fall, Beach Slang is slated to release A Loud Bash of Teenage Feelings, the follow up to their 2015 album The Things We Do to Find People Who Feel Like Us. Earlier month, they shared the first single from the their forthcoming album, “Punks in a Disco Bar,” which you can listen to here.
