Vince Staples, YG, Joey Bada$$, Mac Miller Irving Plaza Shows Canceled Following Shooting

Last week, four people were injured in a fatal shooting at T.I.’s Irving Plaza concert in New York. As a result, several upcoming concerts at Irving Plaza and the Gramercy Theatre have been either postponed or canceled. Among the affected concerts are shows featuring Vince Staples (June 4), Joey Bada$$ (June 2), YG (June 6), and Mac Miller (June 3), Rolling Stone reports. “In light of last week's tragic event, we are acting with an overabundance of caution and coordinating a going forward strategy with the New York Police Department that may also include a curfew,” a spokesperson for Irving Plaza and Gramercy Theatre told Rolling Stone, who explained that the postponements are happening because discussions with the NYPD are “ongoing.” Representatives for YG, Miller, and Joey declined to comment. Staples' representative has yet to respond to Pitchfork's request for comment.

Rapper Troy Ave, whose real name is Roland Collins, was shot in the leg during the incident and subsequently arrested in connection to the shooting. He was formally charged with attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon, The New York Times reports. The rapper pleaded not guilty to all charges. “[Troy Ave is] the real victim here,” Troy Ave's lawyer Scott E. Leemon told the court, arguing that the rapper was acting in self-defense.
