Real Estate Part Ways With Matt Mondanile

Real Estate Part Ways With Matt Mondanile

Matt Mondanile is no longer a member of Real Estate. In a statement, the band said he is “focusing on his own Ducktails project.” Real Estate will continue their current “Going Up the Country 2016” tour with new member and guitarist Julian Lynch. They also say that they will begin recording the follow-up to their 2014 album Atlas after the tour. It’s currently scheduled for an early 2017 release. See their full statement and upcoming schedule below.

A founding Real Estate member and guitarist, Mondanile was part of all of the band’s releases, most recently playing on Atlas. He has put out many Ducktails releases, the latest being St. Catherine in 2015.

Real Estate's statement:

Having previously announced a short run of shows in California and a show at Red Rocks Amphitheater with The National, Real Estate expand on this by adding two further California dates. This limited run of dates is a prelude to the recording of their next album, tentatively slated for early 2017.
These upcoming shows will be the first with new member and fellow scion of Ridgewood, NJ, guitarist Julian Lynch. Lynch takes the place vacated by the departing Matt Mondanile, who is focusing on his own Ducktails project, a musical endeavor that predates his involvement in Real Estate.
The band will commence recording their follow-up to Atlas this summer.
