The Portland metal outfit Agalloch have broken up. The band announced the split today on their Facebook page. "John Haughm and the rest of the band (Don Anderson, Jason Walton, and Aesop Dekker) have parted ways," it opens. "What the future holds for the separate parties remains undetermined." Haughm founded Agalloch in 1996. Originally conceived as a duo, the project soon expanded into a full band, and they released their debut album Pale Folklore in 1999. The group went on to put out four more albums, as well as several EPs and compilations. Their most recent effort, The Serpent and the Sphere, was recognized by Pitchfork as one of the best metal albums of 2014.
