Dave Grohl wasn't nominated for an Oscar this year, but as promised, he delivered a special performance. He sang the Beatles' "Blackbird" during the Academy Awards' annual "In Memoriam" segment. Watch video below.
David Bowie was honored in the segment. They played a clip from his appearance in Zoolander.
ANOHNI, one of the nominees for Best Original Song, was not asked to perform at this year's Oscars, due to "time constraints." Read her thoughts about that in her essay "Why I Am Not Attending the Academy Awards."
Before Grohl's performance, the Foo Fighters Twitter account sent out a message of support for ANOHNI:

Foo Fighters' HBO series Sonic Highways won two Emmys and was nominated for the Best Music Film Grammy.
