Last year, a federal jury found Anthony and Harvey Christian guilty of running a 20-year drug ring. Anthony Christian was also found guilty of orchestrating the 1999 murder of Jerome "Boo Boo" Estrella. Christian's lawyer Michael Gold has now requested that all police files related to the murder be released. Those documents revealed that the FBI were investigating Wu-Tang Clan's involvement in those murders, the Staten Island Advance reports (via Billboard).
Both men were accused of ordering two murders in 1999—the murders of Estrella and Corey "Shank Bank" Brooker—in a 1999 interview with gang member Brian Humphreys. Humphreys was the gunman in Estrella's murder. The accusations claimed that the two men may have been murdered because they robbed Raekwon and RZA's family members. The documents read:
"A couple of weeks before the Boo Boo shooting, Uncles (the street name of drug supplier-turned-informant Paul Ford) told Humphreys about a Blood named Boo Boo who just came home from jail. He stated that Boo Boo had robbed RZA's little brother and had also gotten into something with the Christian brothers. Uncles was talking about Boo Boo and said that he had just come home and robbed RZA's brother and that they would likely come after him for that. Humphreys believes Uncles was referring to members of Wu Tang."
The filing later goes on to say that Ford accused RZA of issuing a $30,000 contract for Brooker's murder.
"These reports seem to suggest someone else was liable for those murders. I'm not suggesting that Wu-Tang committed these crimes. The FBI did," Gold said to the Staten Island Advance. "What I'm trying to ascertain is their stated belief in an official file that Wu-Tang ordered this homicide."
Federal prosecutors argued that Estrella robbing RZA's brother would be bad business for the drug trade, and thus, contended that Anthony Christian was responsible for organizing the killing. They said Gold had access to all relevant information prior to the trial and that none of the just-released documents would exonerate Christian.
In 2012, Ol' Dirty Bastard's FBI file was released; the FBI had also linked ODB to Estrella's murder.
