Recently, Canadian politicians Rachel Notley (Premier of Alberta), Don Iveson (Mayor of Edmonton), and Naheed Nenshi (Mayor of Calgary) unveiled a new T-shirt using the Nine Inch Nails logo—a play on their respective initials. Apparently, the shirts didn't go over very well with the band.
In an interview with CBC (via Exclaim!), Iveson—who isn't pictured above and hasn't been photographed with the shirt—claimed that he was informed of "infringement" related to the shirt. "We got advice that there were some concerns about the trademark and essentially to cease and desist," he said.
When asked if he received a shirt, he laughed and replied, "On the advice of my attorney, I can't comment."
