The Go-Betweens' Robert Forster has announced a new solo record called Songs to Play, his first album in seven years. (His last album was 2008's The Evangelist.) The new album is out September 18 via Tapete Records. Watch the album trailer below.
In a press release, Forster said, "I had originally envisaged the gap between my last album and my new one as five years. I wanted time to pass, for there to be a cut-off. I knew what happened next would be the start of something new. Five years became seven."
Forsters' Go-Betweens partner Grant McLennan died in 2006. Earlier this year, Domino released the box set G Stands for Go-Betweens: Volume 1, 1978-1984.
