Jack White's label, Third Man Records, currently operates a store in Nashville, Tennessee. Now, Third Man has announced it will open a store in Detroit, Michigan, where White is from. The store is set to open by November 27, Black Friday.
The store will open through a partnership with Shinola, the luxury goods retailer that operates a flagship store in Cass Corridor, one of the city's historic districts and where White went to high school and the White Stripes played their first ever show. Shinola and White recently purchased the building at 441 W. Canfield St. that houses their flagship, which is where Third Man will open.
"From the great visual artists like Gordon Newton to the music of the Gories, and the birth of the Detroit garage rock scene, the Corridor has nurtured Detroit's soul and inventiveness for decades," White said in a press release. "That spirit pushes forward with Shinola's passion and will come full circle for the artists of the Corridor that work with Third Man Records to plant a new foundation there to help keep that creative spirit alive for decades to come."
