Are you looking for an introduction to the music of Lou Reed and Bob Marley? Have you ever pondered Julian Casablancas' opinions regarding the long-term effects of global capitalism? Wonder no more: the Strokes/Voidz frontman has relaunched his website to include two new sections: "Politics", in which Casablancas links to and comments on work by Martin Luther King Jr., Howard Zinn, Noam Chomsky, and the like, and "Master Mix Tapes", a collection of YouTube playlists to introduce fans to various artists' discographies.
Casablancas isn't looking to sow discord with the "Politics" section. "Regardless of your leanings, we find this information helpful in understanding our current world better," the page says. "If it’s not consistent with your opinions that’s fine, just sharing what we think is relevant and perhaps out of mainstream sight."
Meanwhile, the Master Mix Tapes is intended as a way to honor "just some the best of the best, universally cool super-champs, no big deal." So far, there are mixes of songs by Reed, Marley, and Stevie Wonder.
