Back in 2009, the Black Keys' Dan Auerbach released a solo album called Keep It Hid. Now, he's announced the formation of a new solo project called the Arcs, who will release an album through Warner Bros., as Rolling Stone reports. First, he'll put out the boxing-themed "Stay in my Corner" b/w "Tomato Can" single on May 2 via Nonesuch to coincide with the Mayweather/Pacquiao fight. It will be released exclusively at independent record stores.
The Arcs' album will be released in the late summer, and features "a whole bunch of different people - my favorites," he told Rolling Stone. "I just wanted to do my thing and get extra weird. I wanted everything to flow [and] be cohesive. A lot of the songs bleed one into the other, a lot like the Grateful Dead – my favorite records that they did. So I’ve got a lot of connected songs. It's basically everything I love about music all wrapped up into one record – that’s all!"
He also said that the Black Keys will make up their canceled tour dates before the album is released.
