Andrew Bird Partners With Gun Safety Initiative

Andrew Bird Partners With Gun Safety Initiative

Andrew Bird's newest album, Are You Serious, is out April 1. Bird is touring behind the album, and this week, he's announced a partnership with the Everytown for Gun Safety Support Fund, a movement aimed at reducing gun violence in America. Bird will donate $1 to the fund for every ticket sold on tour. He'll also sell a custom t-shirt printed in orange—a color the gun violence prevention movement has adopted with the Wear Orange initiative—with proceeds going to the fund. Find his tour dates below.

Wear Orange was founded by Chicago activists. Bird is from the Chicago area, and offered this quote in a press release:

I want everyone to be able to walk or bike the streets of my hometown without fear of gunfire. I want to help, somehow, though it’s hard to know how to do that. Everytown for Gun Safety is an organization that takes on this issue with the kind of intelligence and grasp of reality that it takes to make a difference. I am proud to support and I hope that their work can create some positive change. P.S. Wear Orange!

Bird will also be a judge at Voices of Orange, a talent competition for Chicago residents aged 15 to 22 built around the themes of peace, non-violence, and gun violence reduction.

Kanye West's The Life of Pablo Is Finally Available to Download... But Only If You Already Bought It

Kanye West's The Life of Pablo Is Finally Available to Download... But Only If You Already Bought It

Kanye West's album The Life of Pablo is now available for download... but only if you already should have received a download code. A Tidal spokesperson told Pitchfork, "The latest version of The Life of Pablo is now being delivered to the individuals that purchased it originally, as well as to those who in some cases did not receive a download link at the time of the album's release. Customers that received a refund will also receive a download link as a courtesy from Tidal.com." The album is not currently available for new customers to purchase, the spokesperson confirmed.

TLOP was previously available exclusively for streaming on Tidal. This week, tracks from the album have begun to arrive as streams on other services, with "Famous" and "I Love Kanye" appearing on Apple Music and Spotify. Tickets for West's Madison Square Garden album premiere last month came with a download, and The Life of Pablo was briefly available for digital purchase via Tidal.

Beyoncé Visited by Hillary Clinton on Music Video Set: Report

Beyoncé Visited by Hillary Clinton on Music Video Set: Report

Beyoncé hosted Hillary Clinton on the set of a new music video, reports Us Weekly. The Democratic presidential candidate "made a surprise visit" on March 24 to the video shoot in Los Angeles, an unnamed source was quoted as saying. It wasn't clear if Clinton might be in the video. Beyoncé is finishing up an album, with videos, for a "likely," April release, a second source told US Weekly.

At an Iowa town hall in December, Clinton was asked if she would rather be president or Beyoncé. "I want to be as good a president as Beyoncé is a performer," Clinton replied. Beyoncé attended a Clinton fundraiser last May, according to Bloomberg.

In February, Beyoncé performed at the Super Bowl halftime show, right after sharing a new song and video, "Formation." She also announced a world tour that kicks off on April 27 in Miami.

Watch the "Formation" video below, and read Jes Skolink's piece prompted by a planned police boycott of the Miami tour opener, "A History of Police Boycotting Musicians in America."

This record is for my friends and everyone that has been supporting me over the years. Since I finished three albums that were more about my personal life, it was time to make something to give back. Puff Daddy Announces Bad Boy Family Reunion Concert Featuring Jay Z, Mary J Blige, Faith Evans, Lil' Kim, More

Puff Daddy has announced the "Bad Boy Family Reunion," a one-night-only concert to celebrate the late Notorious B.I.G and Bad Boy Records. The evening is being billed as the reunion of Puff Daddy and the Family. (A similar reunion happened at last year's BET Awards.) Mase, 112, Faith Evans, Lil' Kim, Jay Z, Mary J Blige, French Montana, the Lox, Total, and Mario Winans will perform. The show will take place at the Barclays Center in Biggie's native Brooklyn on May 20, the night before what would have been the rapper's 44th birthday.

"This isn't just another concert—this is hip-hop history,” Puff said in a press release. “The Bad Boy Family includes some of the biggest names in music and songs that helped define a whole generation of music. Also, we are celebrating one of the greatest of all time—Notorious B.I.G. This will be a night to remember. I can't wait to see you all there.”

Recently, Evans revealed that she was planning a posthumous collaborative album with Biggie, tentatively slated to drop this fall. She also hinted at potential live performances featuring a Biggie hologram.

Listen to Brian Eno's 21-Minute-Long New Song "The Ship"

Listen to Brian Eno's 21-Minute-Long New Song "The Ship"

Brian Eno recently announced The Ship, his first solo album since 2012's Lux. (It's out April 29 on Warp.) Today, he's shared its title track, a 21-minute epic.

Eno explains in a press release:

The piece started as an Ambient work intended for a multi channel sound installation in Stockholm, but during the making of it I discovered that I could now sing a low C - which happens to be the root note of the piece. Getting older does have a few fringe benefits after all. From that point the work turned into an unusual kind of song...a type I've never made before where the vocal floats free, untethered to a rhythmic grid of any kind.

In a statement, Gold Panda said of the video:

I asked Rob to just come and film us (my gran and I) being boring. But now, when I watch it back, it doesn’t seem mundane at all. It seems actually really nice and sweet. I was thinking about all this cool stuff we could do, slow-mo shots, what outfit I could wear, maybe an explosion and who could be in my crew. But real life is exciting enough; you just don’t see it when you’re in it.
