Bradford Cox Teams With Stereolab's Tim Gane on Cavern of Anti-Matter's "Liquid Gate"

Stereolab's Tim Gane's band Cavern of Anti-Matter recently announced Void Beats / Invocation Trex, their debut album. Today, they've shared "Liquid Gate," a collaboration with Deerhunter's Bradford Cox.  Check the track out below, accompanied by a psychedelic visual directed by Peter Strickland (director of Berberian Sound Studio and The Duke of Burgundy.) 

It's not the first time Cox and Gane have teamed up: Gane also appeared on Deerhunter's recent album Fading Frontier.

Void Beats / Invocation Trex is out February 19 via Duophonic. In addition to Cox, the record features collaborations with Spacemen 3's Sonic Boom and Mouse on Mars' Jan St. Werner. "Liquid Gate" follows the previously-revealed "Melody in High Feedback Tones."

Cavern of Anti-Matter have also announced a European tour behind the upcoming record. Find the full itinerary below.

Listen to Loretta Lynn's "Who's Gonna Miss Me?," From New Album Full Circle

Loretta Lynn is getting ready to release her first new LP since the Jack White-produced 2004 album Van Lear Rose. Full Circle is out March 4 via Legacy Recordings. It was produced by Patsy Lynn Russell and John Carter Cash and recorded at Cash Cabin Studio in Hendersonville, Tennessee.

Full Circle features new versions of old songs, appearances from Willie Nelson and Elvis Costello, and a few new tracks as well. One of those new tracks is "Who's Gonna Miss Me?" Listen below, and find the tracklist below as well.

A documentary about Lynn, American Masters - Loretta Lynn: Still a Mountain Girl, will air March 4 on PBS.

The Field Announces New Album The Follower

The Field, aka Axel Willner, has announced a new album, the followup to 2013's excellent Cupid's Head. The Follower is out April 1 on Kompakt. Check out the cover art and tracklist below.

"The Follower is about old myths, finding utopia and how mankind repeatedly makes the same mistakes over and over," Willner said in a statement.

Damon Albarn Performs in Mali Despite State of Emergency

This weekend, Damon Albarn performed in Mali at the Festival Acoustik Bamako, alongside artists including Tony Allen and Songhoy Blues. The performance went ahead despite Mali having been in a state of emergency since last November, when terrorists attacked a hotel in the capital. (Larger, outdoor sets in the south of the country were called off.) In a new interview with the Guardian, Albarn explains his decision to play at the festival.

"It’s the message of coming here and doing this that’s the most important thing,” Albarn told the Guardian, "and being able to keep the agenda on music. The country’s music is an inspiration for me and that’s why I’ve been here so many times."

Mali's minister of culture, crafts and development, N’Diaye Ramatoulaye Diallo, said, "We don’t have diamonds in Mali, we don’t have oil, but what we do have is the music. What is the best worldwide language today? It’s music, and we have the best ambassadors for that."

Coldplay's Chris Martin Covers David Bowie's "Heroes" on "Carpool Karaoke" With James Corden

One of the most popular running bits on "The Late Late Show" is "Carpool Karaoke," a segment where James Corden drives around and duets with extremely famous singers. The latest installment features Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, who Corden picks up en route to the Superbowl. Below, watch the two men sing "Adventure of a Lifetime," "Yellow," "Hymn for the Weekend," and "Viva La Vida," David Bowie's "Heroes," "Us Against the World," "Paradise," and an improvised Superbowl song on a toy keyboard.

Last month, Coldplay revealed that Bowie once turned down their request for a collaboration, because it was "not a very good song."

In previous "Carpool Karaoke" installments, Adele did Nicki Minaj's entire "Monster" verse and A$AP Rocky appeared in the backseat to perform "Everyday" with Rod Stewart.

Watch Pussy Riot's Video for Dave Sitek-Produced Protest Track "Chaika"

Late last year, a documentary by anti-corruption activist Alexei Navalny purported to uncover links between the family of Russia's prosecutor general, Yuri Chaika, and a notorious Russian gang. Today, Pussy Riot have shared a video for a protest single about the prosecutor, "Chaika," which was produced by TV on the Radio's Dave Sitek. In the clip, directed by Andrey Fenøčka and the group's Nadya Tolokonnikova, Pussy Riot dress as officials and torture prisoners while performing eerie dance routines. Below, read Tolokonnikova's statement about the track and collaborating with Sitek, and scroll down for the video.

"Everybody should remember that we are flying on the fucking giant rocket though space. Everybody should think about it at least one time per day. Giant. Rocket. I wonder why people doesn’t have telescopes at their house to remind themselves about this truth”, - says Dave. That is why he never tries to foretell what is going to happen during your new meeting. He really can give the things the opportunity to happen, to occur. And this is the most important talent an artist can have. All the rest, like technical skills, time period, style, will follow. The linchpin is to be able to let something strange happen, some incredible story or a peculiar situation. “How can I answer the question what track would we write next time? May be tomorrow we’ll just go to pick flowers. Or start sewing a pair of pants. Shall we sew some pants?” This is Dave.

Dave has three huge fluffy dogs and two cats resembling tiny cautious leopards. Dave knows how to talk to them, and his cats and dogs in their turn can sing accompanied by different musical instruments. That is why it is absolutely not important in what language you are composing a track together with Dave. You could write in English or in Russian, or simply mew like Run The Jewels.

If I compose something in an English speaking country I don’t want to be constrained by the language, to stay within the limits of English. I can create stunning and bizarre rhymes in English, working, in fact, precisely due to that bizarreness. We discussed it once with Miss Kittin whose first language is French that it is really wonderful to write using a language which is not your mother tongue and unconsciously come up with paradoxical and amazing phrases. Still I would never agree to write in English only. That is why it came so much to the point to discover Dave who can understand cats and Russians without words.

In a separate statement, the band said:

Pussy Riot demands an immediate investigation against General Prosecutor Chaika and his family, as well as against all the top officials in his office. We hope that the CHAIKA music video will help to convince people that we cannot live in a country where its top law enforcement official is the brightest symbol of corruption and murder. Pussy Riot hopes that people around the world will help us voice our outrage and turn Russia into a country where people like Chaika can no longer exist.

Sense Field's Jon Bunch Has Died

Jon Bunch, the singer who fronted Sense Field and Further Seems Forever, has died, Billboard reports. He was 46.

In the late 1980s, Bunch was in the L.A. hardcore band Reason to Believe. In the early 1990s, Bunch and members of that band formed the emo/post-hardcore band Sense Field. They released five albums together, had a hit with 2002's "Save Yourself," and disbanded in 2004. That same year, Bunch joined Further Seems Forever and remained a member until 2006. Sense Field reunited for a few shows in 2012 and 2013, and recently, Bunch was a member of the bands War Generation and Lucky Scars.

Matmos Share Psychedelic "Excerpt Three" Video, Announce Tour

Matmos have shared the music video for "Excerpt Three," a track off their upcoming album Ultimate Care II. It's directed by Max Eilbacher (from Horse Lords), and since it's a record featuring washing machine sounds, it's only appropriate that the psychedelic video features plenty of washing machine imagery.

The duo were interviewed yesterday by Baltimore's local NBC affiliate WBAL-TV. They discussed their new album and performed some washing machine music for the reporter. Watch both the "Excerpt Three" video and the news report below.

Miles Ahead is the new Miles Davis biopic starring and directed by Don Cheadle. The film had its world premiere last year at the New York Film Festival and will arrive in theaters on April 1. Republican Presidential Candidate John Kasich Promises to Reunite Pink Floyd If Elected

Presidential candidates make a lot of big promises during election season. John Kasich—the governor of Ohio and Republican candidate for president—is no exception. During an interview with CNN, he revealed that if he makes it to the Oval Office, he would attempt to get Pink Floyd back together.

As Stereogum points out, Kasich made his declaration during an interview with CNN (below) after saying that his favorite concert ever was Pink Floyd's The Wall tour stop in Pittsburgh. After calling Roger Waters an "incredible artist," he said:

"And if I’m president, I am going to once and for all try to reunite Pink Floyd to come together and play a couple songs. And since we have so much trouble in America with our finances, I’m going to start with a little song they created called ‘Money.'"

David Gilmour has said that Pink Floyd's 2014 album The Endless River was their last. Who knows, though—maybe Gov. Kasich can change his mind.

Kanye Clarifies: Waves Isn’t Actually the Greatest Album of All Time

One week ago, Kanye West tweeted about his forthcoming album Waves, calling it the "album of the life." Today, he backpedaled slightly on that sentiment with an apology to a few of the all-time greats. He wrote:

Dev Hynes Plays Truth or Dare in Short Film Blackout

Blackout is a short film where a group of friends play a game of truth or dare. One of those friends is Blood Orange's Dev Hynes. (He does a Chewbacca impression!) The short was directed by Andrew Zuchero with creative directors Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman (Catfish) as part of a series of 10 shorts commissioned by Derek Lam. Big Boi Announces Year-Long Las Vegas Residency

Kanye Says He and Wiz Have Resolved Their Beef

Less than a week after engaging in a highly memorable Twitter back-and-forth, Kanye West and Wiz Khalifa have apparently resolved their beef. "Me and Wiz spoke yesterday," Yeezy wrote on Twitter. "Great convo. All positive."

If you'll recall: The feud began after Kanye misinterpreted one of Wiz's tweets. At one point, Kanye claimed he owned Wiz's child. Kanye eventually backed down and apologized, but this is a more formal reconciliation. 

Meanwhile, Kim Kardashian—Kanye's wife—and Amber Rose—Kanye and Wiz's ex, and the mother of Wiz's child—met to resolve their beef.

Parquet Courts Perform New Songs, Tease New Release

Parquet Courts recently appeared on Fordham University's WFUV radio station, where they performed two new songs: "Dust" and "Outside." Watch video of those performances below.

In other news: A mural recently went up in Brooklyn's Bushwick neighborhood teasing what appears to be a new Parquet Courts release called Human Performance. Below, watch a making-of the mural posted to Instgram by Rough Trade, the band's label. 

Parquet Courts' last studio album was 2014's Sunbathing Animal. In November, they released the Monastic Living EP.
