Amazon Studios has acquired the distribution rights to the new film Annette, Variety reports. The music-heavy drama will star Rihanna and Adam Driver (“Girls,” Star Wars: The Force Awakens). Rooney Mara was originally set to star in the film, but she left the project due to other commitments. The producers are currently searching for a new female lead. When Annette was announced in November, Rihanna was rumored to be a part of the project. She has now been officially confirmed as part of the film’s cast. French filmmaker Leos Carax will direct in his English-language debut. Filming on Annette begins later this spring.
